Luxe Stays // Chelidonia Luxury Suites
Santorini had been on my bucket list for years. So when I finally made the decision to add it onto the end of two weeks travelling through the Balkans I wanted it to be perfect. I trawled through hundreds of properties online trying to find the balance between spectacular, affordability and availability! And then I discovered Chelidonia Luxury Suites.
The Arrival //
I arrived into the port of Athinios via the Blue Star Ferry from Athens. Didn’t realise it was an 8-hour ferry trip but I upgraded to the front end of the ship and had a quiet, relaxing day cruising around the Greek Islands.
The lovely people at Chelidonia Luxury Suites organised a comfortable transfer to pick me up from the very busy port and drive me 30 mins to Oia main square, right in the heart of town. Here I was met by a representative who kindly carried my bags and guided me to the reception.
The Suite //
I stayed in the Captain’s Suite. A blend of the famous Santorini cave architecture and the heritage of an old captain’s cottage. The Suite is huge, with a practical kitchen, lounge area, bedroom and a large bathroom with spa.
But my favourite part was the beautiful terrace, complete with whirlpool spa and full caldera views.
The Food //
Each morning breakfast is delivered to your suite and the menu changes every day. I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of hotel breakfasts. But wow! Chelidonia does not provide a ‘hotel’ breakfast. They deliver a delicious, homemade Greek feast.
Delivered each morning by the lovely Nenad, always with a smile on his face, a joke up his sleeve and a detailed description of what was plated up in front of me. I felt like I was visiting his home and his Yaya had made breakfast for the whole family – and it was delicious.
And if you’re lucky enough to try the chocolate greek yoghurt with granola, it is to die for!
The Experience //
Staying at the Chelidonia Luxury Suites was like staying with friends. The service, the smiles, the laughter on top of the most amazing views…it was pure perfection.
